Charleston Instagram-worthy Spots

  1. Rainbow Row

This iconic row of pastel-colored houses in Charleston’s Historic District is one of the most photographed spots in the city.

Rainbow Row is composed of thirteen Georgian-style homes that were built in the late 18th century and early 19th century. In the 1930s and 1940s, the houses were in poor condition until Dorothy Porcher Legge purchased and restored them. She painted the houses pastel colors to match the colors that would have been seen in the 18th century.

The address of Rainbow Row is 79-107 E Bay St, Charleston, SC 29401, and it’s located near the Charleston Harbor.

This photogenic location is perfect for those looking for an Instagram-worthy spot. Be sure to go during the morning or evening golden hour to get the best lighting.

2. The Battery

The Battery is a promenade and seawall that stretches along the southern tip of the Charleston peninsula. It’s one of the most iconic spots in Charleston, with views of the harbor, Fort Sumter, and the historic homes that line the waterfront. To get there, head to the intersection of East Bay Street and Murray Boulevard.

3. The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge

One of the most iconic and photogenic structures in Charleston, the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to capture stunning photos of the city. Named after former U.S. Congressman Arthur Ravenel Jr., the bridge is an engineering marvel, spanning the Cooper River and connecting downtown Charleston with Mount Pleasant.

4. Church Street

If you’re looking for a charming and picturesque street to capture your perfect Charleston photo, look no further than Church Street. This beautiful and historic street is lined with stunning architecture, wrought-iron gates, and classic cobblestones that offer endless opportunities for capturing that perfect photo.

What makes Church Street one of the best photo spots in Charleston is its blend of old-world charm and modern appeal. The street is dotted with quaint shops, trendy restaurants, and boutique hotels, which make for a unique backdrop for your photos. Whether you’re capturing the beauty of the street’s architecture or taking a photo of a delicious meal at one of the street’s many eateries, Church Street is the place to be. Its one of my personal favorite Charleston Instagram-worthy Spots.

5. Folly Beach

If you’re looking for a bit of a change of scenery from the historic architecture of Charleston, Folly Beach is just the spot. This beach town just outside of the city offers miles of sandy beaches, colorful beach houses, and plenty of unique photo opportunities.

Folly Beach is where to take photos in Charleston if you’re looking for a laid-back, beachy vibe. The colorful beach houses lining the shore make for a picturesque backdrop, while the pier extending out into the ocean provides a great opportunity for some dramatic shots. You can even head out onto the pier for a unique perspective looking back at the beach.

The beach is located at 101 E Arctic Ave, Folly Beach, SC 29439 and is just a short drive from Charleston. There are plenty of photo locations Charleston has to offer, but if you’re looking for something a bit more relaxing and coastal, Folly Beach is definitely worth a visit.

6. Waterfront Park

Located in the heart of historic Charleston, Waterfront Park is a beautiful 8-acre public park along the Cooper River. Originally opened in 1990, this popular spot is home to a variety of public art installations, stunning gardens, fountains, and an expansive pier.

If you’re looking for the perfect place to snap a picture of Charleston’s famous Pineapple Fountain or just enjoy a stroll along the water, then Waterfront Park is the place to be. The park offers a wide range of activities, including picnicking, jogging, and relaxing on the swings. It’s also a great spot to watch the sunset over the harbor.

7. Pitt Street Bridge

Another picturesque location that should be on your photography checklist is the Pitt Street Bridge. This old trolley bridge used to connect Mount Pleasant to Sullivan’s Island but now serves as a popular destination for walkers, joggers, and photographers.

The reason why the Pitt Street Bridge is a must-visit spot is that it offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding marshes, waterways, and barrier islands. This place is particularly stunning during sunrise or sunset when the sky and water reflect the beautiful hues of pink, orange, and red.

To find the Pitt Street Bridge, you can head to the end of Pitt Street in the Old Village of Mount Pleasant. Once you get to the bridge, you’ll see a wide-open expanse that offers a 360-degree view of the surrounding landscapes. With its scenic vistas and romantic ambiance, this place is perfect for couples looking for a spot to take some romantic photos or for anyone seeking a serene and picturesque escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

8. Hampton Park

If you’re looking for a lush and peaceful oasis within the bustling city of Charleston, then Hampton Park is definitely worth checking out. This beautiful green space spans over 60 acres and is located just a short distance from the downtown area. Originally established as a racetrack in 1901, the park has since been transformed into a serene haven filled with trails, ponds, and gardens.

One of the standout features of Hampton Park is its stunning array of flora and fauna. Visitors can enjoy a diverse collection of plant life, including towering live oaks, fragrant magnolias, and colorful azaleas.

One of the most popular areas of Hampton Park is the iconic Fountain Garden. This charming spot features a beautifully sculpted fountain at its center, surrounded by a sea of vibrant flowers and greenery. It’s the perfect backdrop for any photo, whether you’re capturing the beauty of the gardens or simply enjoying a peaceful stroll through the park.

9. Angel Oak Tree

One of the most stunning natural wonders of Charleston is the Angel Oak Tree. Located on John’s Island, about 12 miles from downtown Charleston, this beautiful oak tree is believed to be over 400 years old, making it one of the oldest living organisms in the United States. It stands tall at an impressive height of 65 feet, with its branches spreading out to 187 feet in circumference.

The Angel Oak Tree is an excellent spot for photography, as it offers a striking contrast between the grandiose size of the tree and the natural beauty of its surroundings. Visitors can take advantage of the shaded area beneath the tree to capture stunning shots of the trunk and branches, as well as the interesting patterns formed by the exposed roots. Its one of the best Charleston Instagram-worthy Spots.

10. Pineapple Fountain

The Pineapple Fountain is a stunning landmark that’s as beautiful as it is symbolic. Pineapples have been a symbol of hospitality for centuries, so it’s fitting that Charleston has a stunning fountain dedicated to this fruit. Located in Waterfront Park, the Pineapple Fountain is the perfect place to snap a photo or relax by the water.

Not only is the Pineapple Fountain an iconic piece of Charleston’s history and culture, but it also makes for an excellent backdrop for any photo. Its intricate design, combined with the beautiful surroundings, makes it the perfect place for an Instagram-worthy shot.
